Situated within a compact 540 sq.ft footprint on the 11th floor in Ahmedabad, the library is envisioned as an immersive educational environment that transforms reading into an interactive and emotionally engaging spatial experience for children. The design moves away from conventional library planning and instead creates a playful ecosystem where learning, curiosity, imagination, and exploration coexist seamlessly within a thoughtfully articulated interior landscape.
The central design intervention emerges as the “Knowledge Tree” – an experiential installation conceived as a sculptural learning interface that anchors the entire space visually and functionally. Branch-like extensions spread organically through the interiors, integrating thematic educational content, interactive engagement points, display niches, and exploratory learning moments that encourage children to discover information intuitively through movement and play.
An immersive children’s library designed through interactive storytelling, playful spatial interventions, and curiosity-led learning experiences.
The spatial planning is carefully choreographed to establish multiple scales of interaction ranging from focused reading corners and collaborative learning zones to intimate storytelling pockets designed for group activities and immersive engagement. Soft forms, tactile materials, layered textures, child-sensitive ergonomics, and warm ambient illumination together cultivate a nurturing atmosphere that feels stimulating yet calming for young users.
Rather than functioning solely as a reading space, the project positions the library as a knowledge-driven social environment where architecture actively participates in shaping learning behaviour, imagination, and collaborative discovery. The result is a vibrant educational setting where storytelling, interaction, and spatial exploration become inseparable from the process of learning itself.
